In this lesson, the achievements and learning from the previous four are drawn together. Pupils are provided with time to summarise what they have learned about the rescue of a joey, and also what they have learned about this approach to the learning and application of mathematics.

At the end of this lesson, the pupil should be able to:

• outline the whole process of identifying and nurturing an orphaned joey of a particular species – such as by constructing a summary poster, flow chart, video or other form to illustrate this
• identify all of the mathematical skills used and developed in this case on the pupils Saving Joey (Pupil Self Reflection Sheet)
• present a considered appraisal of this Case as a way of learning mathematics – such as after review of the list of tasks compiled in the Record Booklet

A class discussion of opinions would be highly beneficial at this point.

Teachers might consider whether a small celebration by eating the kangaroo biscuits as an appropriate way to conclude this Case.
