PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING) |
Now familiar with marsupials and their development, pupils are introduced to the five species of kangaroos and wallabies on which this case is based. After consideration of what might need to be involved in the rescue and nurturing of an orphaned joey, they design a step by step process to determine a feeding program for an orphaned joey. Pupils then begin the specific task of presenting, manipulating and using the data necessary for determining the species, age and feeding regime for a rescued joey. The purpose of the graphs, that the pupils make in this lesson, is to allow them to identify their own joey in later lessons. The foot length, tail length and weight are unique identifying factors in kangaroo species. Excel could be used to present the data.
By the end of this lesson the pupil should be able to:
Opportunity is again provided for pupils to reflect on the activities and record this in their Record Booklets.
